What Causes Dandruff?
Ever had an itchy head and found flaky skin falling onto your clothes on the neck and shoulders? Don't worry, you don't have poor hygiene, but you might have dandruff. In fact most people will get dandruff at some point in their life.
Dandruff occurs when dead skin cells clump together due to an overly oily scalp, which makes them more noticeable. This usually happens on the scalp, but can also occur on the eyebrows or beards. Dandruff can also become worse with:

Q. Are shampoo and conditioner bars good for dandruff?
A. All Klucz bars are made up of ingredients designed to moisturise and nourish your hair and scalp. Our anti-dandruff specific bars target dandruff adn itchiness using the ingredient salicylic acid, while other bars are designed to repair, cleanse or moisturise.​

Q. Are antidandruff bars useful for anything else?
A. Yes! The active ingredient in our anti dandruff bars (salicylic acid) can also be used to fight breakouts of acne anywhere on the body (including the face!). The bars also work for dandruff in beards.

Q. Salicylic Acid? How can acid be good for my skin?
A. We hear you! All our bars, including our anti-dandruff bars have a pH of between 4.5 and 5 (slightly acidic), which is the perfect pH balance for healthy human skin and scalp.

Q. Can shampoo bars cause dandruff?
A. Just like some liquid shampoo can dry the scalp, so can some shampoo bars. We encourage anyone to avoid either liquid or bar shampoos that have paragraph-long ingredient lists. No Klucz shampoo bar will cause dandruff and all out ingredients are listed on the back of every Klucz bar box, and on our products' pages. While some bars might not fix a dandruff problem, the anti-dandruff bars have been tried and tested to work wonders!
Q. How long does dandruff take to improve?
A. Unlike conventional anti dandruff shampoo, Klucz anti dandruff shampoo bars are designed to repair, rebalance and remoisturise the scalp rather than strip it. Stripping the scalp with harsh chemicals may stop the dandruff faster, but it does not solve the problem and can instead exacerbate it. Klucz bars therefore take between 2-4 weeks of daily use to see results, but will keep the dandruff away for the long term while also repairing your scalp.​
